Investment performance / Why we measure investment performance

Although we have specialists working on the Scheme's investments, and the Investment Committee takes regular advice from recognised experts in this field (see Advisers), the Trustee still has a responsibility to regularly assess performance.

To make sure performance is measured accurately, the Trustee does two things:

• It agrees a Statement of Investment Principles (click here to see a summary), which lays down the basis for investment decisions.
• The investment performance of the Fund is compared with the broad universe of pension funds through Russell Mellon, previously known as CAPS, and with the larger UK pension funds of the WM50 through the WM Company.
