Benefits on Death

If you die before Normal Pension Age, the following benefits will be payable:

  • Lump sum :
    Your dependants or personal representatives will receive a refund of your contributions paid to the Scheme plus interest. To have your wishes taken into account it is helpful for you to have completed a Nomination Form or, if appropriate, a Will.
  • A pension to your Widow/Widower or Civil Partner
    A pension equal to one half of your pension earned in the Scheme taking into account any increases between the date you left the Scheme and death. This is payable for life and subject to the same annual pension increase as your pension
    Details of any pension payable to a Civil Partner are available on request to the Pensions Office.
  • Childrens' Allowances
    Where applicable, childrens' allowances are also payable.
