Can I Join the Scheme?

Your Company HR representative will confirm the position to you when making your employment arrangements.

New eligible employees must decide whether to join the Scheme on first being employed as there is not normally a further opportunity during a period of employment to do so. If the employment is temporary you may have another opportunity to join the Scheme if you are later offered a regular contract of employment.

New eligible employees will be asked to complete a New Member application form. You will be asked to provide evidence of your date of birth. This information should be returned to your HR representative who will forward copies to Financial Shared Services and the Pensions Office.

If you do not wish to join the Scheme you will be asked to complete a Non-Joiners Declaration form. It is important to remember that you may not be able to join the Scheme at a later date.

With effect from 1 April 2014, new eligible employees will be automatically enrolled in a defined contribution (DC) Nursery arrangement.  Subject to certain minimum funding level criteria being met, it may be possible for members of the Nursery scheme to join the BSPS Standard Section at a future date for future service accrual only.
